We all know the old Monday morning song, feeling like three two-ton bags of 'here we go again'. Or perhaps, you're one of those folks who meet your Mondays with not just a smile but a wide grin, rearing to take on your week. Or maybe, your Mondays aren't even Mondays and your week begins on Tuesday or even Saturday.
Whatever it may be, I've learned that there needs to be a transition. Something to bridge your mind, body, and spirit from being at rest to diving into activity. A moment in time you gift to yourself after the first day back at the grind.
It doesn't have to be intricate or over-involved. It can be as simple as meditation, exercise, some intentionally brewed tea, or curled up with your favorite book. I've found mine to be sweet salts, herbs, and oils and at least 30mins to soak in a candlelit bath. I turn off the lights, turn off all other stimuli and just sit. It's particularly perfect if I do this right before I go to sleep. My rest is deeper and I wake up to Tuesday refreshed and at peace.
My Monday After-Work Bath Salt Recipe:
Epsom Salts and Himalayan Salts to alleviate tension and pain, drawing out negative energies and leaving me relaxed and clear. Sage and Tea Tree essential oil to amplify cleansing. Cedar essential oil to gently ground me. Grapefruit to lift my spirits without adding to much zest as I wind down. Jasmine for sacred sweetness, a treat for myself. Elder flower to move me away from anxiety and fear to inner wisdom and peace.
My recommendation is that you make a great big batch to have ready for use over multiple Monday nights (or whichever day it may be for you).
Whatever form your promise to yourself takes, I urge you to make time with this ritual, allow it to take as long as it needs.
